Early November classes at Adult Ed
During the first week of November you can take a class at Boothbay Region Adult Ed to become a Notary Public, learn about and discuss the Holocaust, and create holiday cards or newsletter. There's still time to sign up for Facial Scrubs and Bath Soaks on Monday, Oct. 24 or Get to Know Your Digital Camera on Oct. 25 and 27.
Join Mary Miller for an informative talk about Nazi Germany and the Holocaust on Monday, Nov. 1 from 6-8 p.m. During the 1920s and 1930s, Europe saw the outbreak of an aggressive, antisemitic nationalist Jews as an inferior, dangerous race. It sought to limit Jewish economic activity and distance Jews from public life. With Hitler’s rise to power in Germany this racial antisemitism became the official ideology and policy of the German regime. Learn about the implementation of societal laws that led to the Holocaust. Mary studied with Israel’s Yad Vashem, participated in a study program in Poland, and completed a seminar on the Holocaust and Human behavior. The cost is $14.
When it comes to finances, how much do you know? In How Money Works you'll learn how to avoid the eight most common mistakes people make with their money. Learn basic; common sense financial concepts that will help you overcome financial obstacles and help achieve your goals.This class is interactive and informative and includes a terrific book on personal finance This workshop is on Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 6-7:30 p.m. and the fee is $8.
Notary Public Training is an excellent course for anyone considering becoming a notary public or for a notary who has not had formal training. The primary duty of a notary public is to formally witness transactions involving paper documents. In Maine notaries can also officiate at weddings. The material will include the application and the requirements for notaries, the duties and tasks performed by the notary as well as the rules governing notaries. A workbook will be provided for students The class meets on Nov. 1 and 3, 6-8 p.m. and the fee is $42.
Get creative on your computer in Holiday Cards and Newsletters on Nov. 3. The holidays are a great time to keep in touch with family and friends. Create your own unique personal greeting cards on your computer using the features in Microsoft Word. such as word art, clipart, borders, and more. If you send holiday newsletters to family and friends make them memorable with photos, clipart, or your own designs. The prerequisite:is MS Word experience. The time is 6-8 p.m. and the fee is $15.
