Lincoln County Democratic Committee chair Valarie Johnson has announced plans for the biennial election of county officers, to take place Wednesday, Jan. 18, with a social gathering starting at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting getting under way at 7. The meeting will take place in the Lincoln County 911 Communications Center in Wiscasset, adjacent to the Court House.

“These are turbulent times and it is important that we all participate in electing people who will help us take on these challenges and help LCDC to be effective,” Johnson said. The committee positions to be filled are chair, vice chair, secretary, and treasurer, all for two-year terms.

Candidates for the positions have been nominated, and additional nominations will be accepted from the floor. Nominees will be asked to make a brief statement before voting begins. Upon election of a new chair, that person will conduct the remainder of the meeting, starting with election of other officers. Johnson said the committee also needs to designate a county representative on the State Democratic Committee. She urged all voting members of the committee to join in this important session.
