During the first week of April at Boothbay Region Adult Ed you can begin planning your organic garden, troubleshoot issues with your computer, learn C.P.R. and first aid, and make your money work for you.

Computer Troubleshooting

If you want to learn simple do-it-yourself troubleshooting techniques to fix common Windows operating systems problems this class is for you! We will begin with how to maintain your computer including disk clean-up, updates, and other preventative maintenance to increase computer performance. Learn to troubleshoot conflicts, why it may be running slow, how to speed it up, and prevent viruses. This is a three session class on April 3, 4 and 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the fee is $36.

CPR/AED and First Aid

This course on April 4 and 6, is taught by a certified instructor and shows participants how to perform CPR, recognize signs of and caring for breathing emergencies and choking. What defibrillation is and how it works, identifies precautions when using an AED for all age groups. The first aid component includes identifying signals of common sudden illnesses, and caring for seizures, heat and cold related injuries, musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries, control external bleeding and care for other injuries.This course is for anyone who wants to learn these skills as well as those needing to renew their certification. A 2-year certificate awarded upon successful completion. The time is 6-9 p.m. and the course fee is $75.

Grow Your Own Organic Garden

On Wednesday, April 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. learn to grow your own vegetables in a sustainable manner, the basics of soil science, enriching your soil to produce healthy, high-yielding plants. Other topics are: the basics of compost, principles of crop rotation and incorporating green manures, manage nutrients in the garden, weed control, insect pests, and methods of natural control. Everyone is welcome, first-timers to experienced gardeners. The instructor is certified by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. The fee is $10. Please register by March 31

How Money Works

It's increasingly difficult to find extra money to pay down debt, fund retirement, or save for a vacation. Join Libby Farmer for this one evening workshop on Thursday, April 6, who will help you explore what your options are. In addition to the information she will discuss you will receive a complimentary copy of a book to help find solutions, organize and prioritize your financial goals. this workshop is on Thursday, April 6 from 6 to 8p.m. and the fee is $9.
