Blistered Fingers Bluegrass Fest comin’ up
It’s the festival with that ‘Welcome Home’ country atmosphere, the Blistered Fingers Bluegrass Festival held at the Litchfield Fairgrounds. The gates will open at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20. Weekend tickets for each festival will cover four days of great music and camping Wednesday through Saturday, and the Sunday morning Robinson's Bluegrass Gospel Sing & Jam.
Day tickets are also available at the gate. There will be several types of vendors located on the grounds and an extra large tent for coverage. Just bring your lawn chairs and come have a great time. Bands come from Maine, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Don’t just hear about it come experience it!
Here’s the lineup of performers: Wednesday, Aug. 23 – Salt & Light (Moore Family Band), Phat Burger Deluxe; Thursday, Aug. 24 - The Bluegrass Brothers, Nothin Fancy, Phat Burger Deluxe, ME; Friday, Aug. 25 - David Parmley & Cardinal Tradition, Nothin Fancy, The Bluegrass Brothers, Zink & Company, Phat Burger Deluxe, The Mason Zink Band; Saturday, Aug. 26 – The Gibson Brothers, Danny Paisley & the Southern Grass, Zink & Company, The Zolla Boys, The Mason Zink Band and host band, Blistered Fingers!
The Festival includes the Blistered Fingers Kids Academy, a free, relaxed, informative three-day music program for children for ages 6-18 focusing on how to play, sing and perform bluegrass music. Students must commit to all three days and bring their own instruments. The kids all get a Free T-shirt and perform a couple of songs as a group on the large main stage built in 2010.
The festival location has 18 women’s and 18 men’s indoor bathroom facilities, four free hot showers, and numerous water and electrical hookups throughout the grounds. Earl Bird Campers - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday before festival $10/ day per camper or all four days with FREE camping- $90 and dogs are $10. Some of the greatest Bluegrass music can be heard at one of the largest family musical events in New England. Blistered Fingers is a fast- moving traditional Bluegrass Band from the central Maine area that travels extensively around the northeast and eastern Canada. The Bluegrass Festival takes place twice every year, in June and August - since 1991, and brings thousands of music lovers from all over the world to Litchfield, Maine, to hear banjos, fiddles, and high, lonesome harmonies.
