Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

Incident

On July 5, Deputy Scott Hayden received a report of theft of a canoe, salt water tackle with poles and two Stihl chainsaws from a Pierce Road residence on Westport Island. The theft took place at the complainant’s summer home and the owned believes it happened sometime during the fall/winter/spring months of 2011/2012. There are no suspects at this time. Further investigation as any new leads come forth.

Summonses

On July 4, Sgt. Jason Nein issued a summons for speeding 30-plus mph over the speed limit on Route 27 in Boothbay to William Dail, 25, of Waldoboro.

On July 4, Sgt. Jason Nein issued two summonses for improper Plates and displaying a fictitious certificate of inspection on Route 1 in Newcastle to Charles Scavetta, 24, of Damariscotta.

On July 5, Deputy Scott Hayden issued a summons to Jody Mills, 52, on Alna Road in Wiscasset for allowing person under 21 to possess or use consumer fireworks.

Accident

On July 7, an accident occurred on the Route 1 southbound on-ramp in Newcastle involving Anne Jeziorski, 62, of Elmira, N.Y., and Albert Lawrence, 27, of Alna. Jeziorski was operating a 2005 Subaru south on the southbound on-ramp. Lawrence was stopped at the southbound on ramp in a 2000 GMC, waiting for traffic so he could merge. Jeziorski was unable to stop and struck Lawrence’s vehicle in the rear. Sgt. Jason Nein was the investigating officer.
