$10K in crack cocaine seized in Kennebec County
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested Quinton Smith 35, of Philadelphia, Pa., for Class A aggravated trafficking in schedule drugs (crack cocaine).
Over the past month, MDEA agents assigned to the York, South Central and Midcoast District Task Force’s conducted an investigation into the distribution of crack cocaine around Kennebec County and along Midcoast.
Agents determined a significant amount of crack cocaine and heroin was being transported by several individuals from Pennsylvania to Maine on a weekly basis. The crack would then be repackaged into individual doses and sold to local users.
Agents had determined that Quinton Smith had left Maine earlier in the week, and traveled to Philadelphia and would be returning with a large amount of crack cocaine.
Agents obtained a search warrant for Smith and the vehicle he was traveling in. A search of the vehicle found over 80 grams of crack concealed in the floor board area of the vehicle. Also seized was about $1,100 in in cash. The estimated street value of the crack is $10,000 dollars.
Smith was arrested and transported to the York County Jail without incident. He has an extensive criminal history in Pennsylvania including convictions for firearms and drug distribution. His bail was set at $50,000. The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
