Area children to benefit from Wiscasset Library Labor Day fundraiser
Monies raised at the upcoming Bands for Books event organized by Friends of the Wiscasset Public Library will help pay for new carpeting and painting in the children’s room and for the purchase of electronic tablets children can borrow to download books and take home for a few weeks.
The fundraiser is 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, Labor Day, at the picturesque Marianmade Farm at 155 Federal St. in Wiscasset.
The event includes a cocktail party, silent auction, and music. The lively and talented four-member band Salty Dogs will be performing again, with danceable music from the 1950’s on.
Local sponors include Ames Hardware, First Federal Savings, The First National Bank and private patron Jenny Spaur.
Sarah’s Cafe is generously donating a variety of heavy hors d’oeuvres and also providing a cash bar. Friends of the Library will provide additional appetizers.
The silent auction includes many desirable items including paintings, prints, pottery, books signed by the authors, gift certificates, an airplane ride, and two cases of wine. In addition, each ticket holder will get a free ticket for a chance to win the raffle of a $100 dinner coupon donated by the Little Village Bistro.
Tickets for the fundraiser are $20 ahead of time and can be purchased at the library at 21 High St. Tickets also can be purchased for $25 at the event.
So, get your tickets, get ready for a fun evening, and at the same time help your local public library.
