On Saturday, Alna’s Jeff Averill was where people usually see him days, at the counter and moving about at the Averill family business, Ames True Value Supply in Wiscasset.
But this time there were balloons and a sheet cake, in honor of Averill’s 60th birthday. Also for the occasion, customers bearing coupons featuring Averill on horseback got a five-percent senior discount.
A post on Ames’ Facebook page Friday carried the coupon and sparked several “Happy Birthday” wishes and, from Cynthia Davis: “Well, HB ole’ timer!”
