Bay Chamber Concerts performances this week
Bay Chamber Concerts will launch its 56th Summer Concert Series on Thursday, July 14 at the Rockport Opera House with “Opening Night Concert” at 7:30 p.m. The evening will include glorious German music with a new American quartet, Aeolus, by Marriage Suites (Bay Chamber Festival 2015) composer, Missy Mazzoli, "Brooklyn’s post-millennial Mozart" (Time Out New York).
The Aeolus Quartet, praised by The Baltimore Sun for combining "smoothly meshed technique with a sense of spontaneity and discovery," perform with Jesse Blumberg, "one of America’s great young baritones" (Opera Today).
Tickets for Opening Night are $45 for adults and $10 for youth under age 25. This specially priced event includes a champagne reception following the performance at Union Hall, 24 Central St., Rockport, just down the street from the Rockport Opera House.
On Friday, July 15 at 8:30 p.m. at Union Hall in Rockport, Bay Chamber Concerts presents “Green Sneakers,” Ricky Ian Gordon’s most personal and intimate work. The mini-opera was written in search of solace from grief after the loss of his partner, Jeffrey Grossi, to AIDS, and following their last few months together. Hailed as "a triumph," "superb mini-opera," and a “masterpiece" by Opera Today, every live performance is a cathartic experience, leaving audiences moved and uplifted.
The celebrated baritone Jesse Blumberg performs the piece with Aeolus Quartet to open the Union Hall series. Tickets for Café Nights at Union Hall are $35 for adults and $10 for those under age 25.
