Lupine Gallery, 48 Main Street on Monhegan Island, will hold an artist’s reception for “Sheer Wild Wonder,” an exhibit of quilt art by Betsy Abbott, on Thursday, July 21 from 2-4 p.m. The artist will present her most recent art quilts, including “Sheer Wild Wonder,” which has been juried into two major national quilt shows and has just returned to Maine.

An amateur naturalist and ornithologist, Abbott expresses her love of wild places and coastal waters in designing her quilts. By making use of both abstract and traditional elements, her quilts tell a story or convey a mood that invites the viewer to participate in the scene.
