Blanche Stransky
Blanche Stransky, 91, died peacefully at St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Harbor, Maine on Aug. 27, 2016.
Blanche was born on Oct. 15, 1924 in Leeds, England to parents Leonard Bader and Lillian (Simpson) Bader.
Blanche attended schools in Leeds, England and then joined the Woman’s Land Army for England and Wales during the years 1943 to 1945. Blanche was a war bride who met her husband Joseph in Leeds, England during World War II. She and Joseph were married in England in January 1946 and then moved to the U.S.A. She and Joseph lived in Baltimore, Maryland and Salisbury, Maryland until she moved to Damariscotta in 2014.
Blanche always enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children. Some of Blanche’s favorite pastimes were art, painting, gardening and everything to do with nature. Blanche had a special place in her heart for cats.
Blanche was predeceased by her parents, her husband Joseph, her daughter C. Diane Creager, and son Brian Stransky.
Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Jo-Ann Freburger and her husband John of Bristol, Maine; her brother, Ronald Bader of Bradford, England; her granddaughter, Valerie Scarborough and her husband Shad of Darlington, Maryland; and her great-grandsons, David Massimiano of Elkton, Maryland, Caleb Scarborough and Joey Scarborough, both of Darlington, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to A Paw in the Door, 16 Winter Street, Bath, ME 04530.
Per Blanche’s wishes, the family will honor her life privately.
