Botanical illustration course offered in Damariscotta
Come and join local artist Kerry Rodriguez as she teaches “Beginning and Intermediate Botanical Illustration” through Central Lincoln County Adult Education. The six-week course begins Wednesday, April 2 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Great Salt Bay School.
Botanical illustration involves portraying a flower, plant, leaf or berry with a level of detail and color accuracy for it to be recognized from another species.
Quality art materials will be provided, including paper, pencils, brushes, palettes and watercolors. A materials fee of $18 is payable to the instructor the first night of class.
The first class will be about drawing techniques and the elements of composition. The second class will be devoted to learning basic color theory and applying what is learned to color mixing and matching plant and blossom colors. The remaining four classes will involve applying the lessons about drawing and color to a specific project.
Thoughtful and individual attention will be given to students of all levels as they pursue their goals.
Registration for the course, in addition to materials fee, is $64 if received on or before March 26 and $69 thereafter.
