Brief fire at Alna home
Wiscasset, Alna and Whitefield firefighters went to a home at the corner of Alna’s Head Tide Road and Route 218 on June 28, after a small fire occurred around some trim boards during paint removal, an Alna fire official said.
A heating gun used to remove paint apparently sparked the brief, afternoon fire, which people at the home had already largely put out with an extinguisher and a garden hose before firefighters arrived, Alna Fire Captain Mike Averill said.
Traffic was slowed but the intersection remained open while crews worked at the scene. Crews were at the cape-style home about half an hour, until shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday.
