Brunswick police summons Woolwich woman
A Woolwich woman has a June court date, after being found in and out of consciousness April 6 in a car with her two young children, Brunswick police said.
Kathleen McGreavy, 33, of Woolwich was summonsed for allegedly operating under the influence and endangering the welfare of a child, Brunswick Police Captain Mark Waltz said. McGreavy was found in the driver’s seat of a parked, 2005 Toyota Camry in the breakdown lane on northbound Route 1, just south of the Cook’s Corner exit, Waltz said. A key was in the ignition and McGreavy’s children, ages 3 and 6, were in child safety seats in the back seat, Waltz said.
Paul Plummer, an assistant marine warden with the police department, found the three inside the car after he noticed people gathering near it, Waltz said. Brunswick Police Officer Justin Dolci and Brunswick Rescue then arrived, and McGreavy was transported to Mid Coast Hospital.
Waltz did not have further information on McGreavy’s condition. The Maine Department of Health and Human Services was contacted due to the alleged child endangerment, he said.
The children were not harmed in the afternoon incident, Waltz said. They were released into the care of their father, he said.
The case will be turned over to the district attorney’s office to decide whether or not to bring charges, Waltz said. A summons sets a date to appear in court but does not constitute a charge, he said.
McGreavy was scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on June 3.
