River Arts of Damariscotta presents a solo show of artist Christine G. Aston’s work in the River Room from Thursday, Oct. 28 to Wednesday, Nov. 17. An opening reception will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.

“Refocusing energy to art after being a family caregiver for over ten years has led me back to what I love to do—drawing in ink and painting with watercolors. Bold gesture with its immediacy helps me to create strong compositions,” said Aston.  “The mood and energy of a painting is as important as the structure. Holding a degree in painting from the Maine College of Art has served me well. My ability to draw is the underlying thread binding my work together. Collage and a variety of materials help to convey, light, color and changing movement. I hope you enjoy both the abstract and the representational imagery. I am discovering that the particular qualities of each aren’t so different after all.”

River Arts is located at 36 Elm St. in Damariscotta and is open Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
