CLC YMCA announces Sally Romero scholarship fund recipient
The Sally Romero scholarship fund was established this year to commemorate the 26-year career of Sally at the CLC YMCA Child Care. Sally served many children in our area working with families to provide a safe, loving environment. In all her work Sally emphasized the Y’s values of Youth Development, Social Responsibility and Healthy Living.
This year’s recipient, Tatum Hancock, has spent many hours at our Y practicing these values and she will pursue a degree in elementary education this fall at St. Joe’s while playing soccer. Tatum is the daughter of Dusty and Bethany Hancock of Newcastle.
Tatum can often be found at the CLC Y. Recently she reminisced, “I started playing soccer at the Y when I was just 5 years old. I am now heading off to college where I will continue to play soccer and study elementary education. The Y was instrumental in both my love of soccer and children, as it was while working at Y that I fell in love with kids and decided to pursue a career in education. I love working with the children, helping at summer soccer camps, and I hope I can continue to support the Y as it has always supported me.”
The CLC Y congratulates Tatum as she steps out to pursue her dreams.
