Culbertson running for third selectman in Alna
Charlie Culbertson, a retired scientist with the U.S. Geological Survey, will run for third selectman in Alna’s upcoming March 27 election. Charlie, a water quality expert, and his wife Collin, an oceanographer at Bowdoin College, have resided in Alna for 21 years. They have two teenage children, Maeva and Jack.
Charlie is the son of an Air Force pilot who served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. “We moved a lot while I was growing up, and I was always the perpetual ‘new kid,’” said Culbertson, “so learning to get along with others from diverse backgrounds was key.” That experience has paid off at work and at play. Charlie has coached baseball for Alna, Wiscasset and Boothbay kids for 11 years and continues to coach at the Babe Ruth level in the area.
“I look forward to continuing my community service as Alna town selectman,” says Culbertson. “Public service is a strong part of my upbringing and background. If elected, I promise to bring enthusiasm an open mind to all matters before the select board.”
