Curtain going up at Lincoln Theater
This week Academy-Award nominated film screenings to continue at Lincoln Theater. We bring something a little bit out of the ordinary and a rare opportunity to see on the large screen: the short animated and short live-action films that have been nominated for this year’s Oscars. While we are not playing the documentary shorts, if there is interest, perhaps we will next year. If you have never experienced these tiny pieces of cinema art before, you are in for a treat. We encourage you to give them a shot.
“Minari” (PG-13; 1 hour, 55 minutes – In Korean with English subtitles, and English) - A tender and sweeping story about what roots us, Minari follows a Korean-American family that moves to a tiny Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream. The family home changes completely with the arrival of their sly, foul-mouthed, but incredibly loving grandmother. Amidst the instability and challenges of this new life in the rugged Ozarks, Minari shows the undeniable resilience of family and what really makes a home. Winner of the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language, nominated for 3 Screen Actors Guild Awards, and nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay. Final screenings Thursday, April 1 at 2 and 7 p.m.
2021 Oscar Nominated Short Films: For the 16th consecutive year, ShortsTV and Magnolia Pictures present the Oscar-Nominated Short Films, opening on April 2.
