The public is invited to a Community Contradance at the Damariscotta Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Friday, Jan. 12, which is part of a series of second Friday of the month contradances. The dance will be held at the Damariscotta Baptist Church located at the corner of Bristol Rd. and Main St., Damariscotta.

The evening will begin at 6:30 with a family dance where easy dances will be taught accompanied by the Oyster Creek Fiddlers & Friends and last until 8:30. Local musicians are welcome to sit in. No experience is necessary and all dances will be taught.

This contradance series is an initiative by local musicians and Lincoln Academy students and is a fundraiser for the Friends of Music Education at Great Salt Bay School. Suggested donations are on a scale of $5-$8 (max. $20 for families). Future dances will be on Feb. 9 and March 9.
