Damariscotta woman indicted for elevated aggravated assault
A Damariscotta woman who allegedly struck another woman with a bottle has been indicted with aggravated assault.
Jade Robbins, 24, was indicted by the Lincoln County Grand Jury with elevated aggravated assault and tampering with a witness.
Robbins was arrested March 30 by Wiscasset Police after she reportedly struck a woman with a bottle outside the Schooner Inn. The victim was testifying against Robbins' brother in an unrelated case.
The police claim Robbins followed the woman to her car and struck her repeatedly with her fists before picking up a beer bottle, which she used to strike the victim again.
The victim stated she briefly lost consciousness after the attack and drove herself to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
Because the bottle was used, the charge was upgraded from aggravated assault, a Class B crime, to elevated aggravated assault, a Class A crime. Class A crimes carry a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and/or up to $50,000 in fines.
The witness tampering charge is a Class B crime, which has a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or $20,000 in fines.
