Drunken fight leads to arrest
A Damariscotta man has been charged with domestic violence assault after a reported drunken confrontation.
Nathan Herald, 25, of Damariscotta was charged with domestic violence assault.
On April 15, Damariscotta Police Officer Ryan Chubbuck responded to Miles Memorial Hospital for a report of a man who had been hit in the head.
It was revealed through interviews that Herald had been drinking April 15 and an argument ensued. Herald allegedly threw the victim to the ground where he began to strike the victim. At this point, the victim reportedly grabbed a chainsaw bar and began to strike Herald with it. Eventually Herald was pushed outside.
But, Herald was allegedly able to break through the door and resume striking the victim.
Chubbuck was able to deduce that Herald had been the main agitator and arrested him, then charged him with domestic violence assault.
Herald is ordered not to have contact with the victim, not to possess or use illegal drugs, alcohol or possess a weapon.
If convicted, Herald could face up to five years in prison or a $5,000 fine.
