“Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them” - J.K. Rowling's first screenplay takes place in the year 1926, and Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures.
Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident, were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt's fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
The film stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander with Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight, Carmen Ejogo and Colin Farrell.
“A Will for the Woods” portrays the last days of a multifaceted advocate and one community’s role in the genesis of a revolutionary movement. Clark Wang prepares for his natural burial while battling lymphoma. As the film follows this musician, psychiatrist and folk dancer’s dream of leaving a legacy in harmony with timeless cycles, environmentalism takes on a profound intimacy. This is a free event that screens at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Volunteers from the non-profit education and advocacy organization Funeral Consumers Alliance of Maine will lead a discussion following the film.
Premiering Thursday, Dec. 15: “Rogue One – A Star Wars Story.”
The Harbor Theatre is located at 185 Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor. For more information, call 207-633-0438 or visit www.harbortheatre.net.

“The Girl on the Train” - Rachel, devastated by her recent divorce, spends her daily commute fantasizing about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train passes every day, until one morning she sees something shocking happen there and becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds. Based on Paula Hawkins' bestselling novel and starring Emily Blunt. Rated R. Final screenings Thursday, Dec. 1 at 2 and 7 p.m.
“Denial” - Based on the acclaimed book “History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier.” “Denial” recounts Deborah E. Lipstadt's (Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz) legal battle for historical truth against David Irving (Cannes Award winner Timothy Spall), who accused her of libel when she declared him a Holocaust denier. In the English legal system, the burden of proof is on the accused, therefore it was up to Lipstadt and her legal team to prove the essential truth that the Holocaust occurred. Rated PG-13. Playing Friday, Dec. 2, Wednesday, Dec. 7 and Thursday, Dec. 8 at 2 and 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 3 and Sunday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.

Playing Saturday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m.
The Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company: “The Entertainer” - Set against the backdrop of post-war Britain, John Osborne's modern classic conjures the seedy glamour of the old music halls for an explosive examination of public masks and private torment. Rob Ashford directs Branagh as the unforgettable Archie Rice. Captured live in HD, it plays Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m.
The Met Encore Presentation: Mozart's “The Magic Flute” - This enchanting opera presented with the whimsical humor and breathtaking puppetry of Julie Taymor's (of The Lion King fame) hit production, presented in a shortened English-language, family-friendly version. Playing Sunday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.
