Time is running out to venture “into the Woods” with Heartwood, in the Tony Award winning book and score by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. One of Sondheim’s most popular works, “Into the Woods” is a musically sophisticated epic fairy tale about wishes, family and the choices we make.
The professional cast and crew have definitely found the heart and beauty of this highly popular musical, in the black box intimacy of the Poe Theater, drawing audience and actors into one shared reality. Beautiful, spirited, ever challenging music, humor and wit, poignant moments and challenging, moral questions are brought to life on a purposefully spare stage, in a delightfully playful production.
