Fritz Freudenberger joins reporting staff
Frederick “Fritz” Freudenberger joined the Boothbay Register/Wiscasset Newspaper staff this week as a full-time reporter, according to editor Kevin Burnham.
Freudenberger’s coverage area will be Boothbay Harbor, including the town boards, school boards and organizations, general assignments, sports and more.
“We are glad that Fritz has joined the staff and that he reached out to inquire about the job opening after we spent nearly four months advertising for Joe Charpentier’s replacement,” said Burnham. “Fritz has newspaper writing experience and is raring to learn about the issues and history of the region, as well as meeting the fine people of this region.”
His career has swung between writing and science, and he has been a researcher, instructor, reporter, and science communicator for organizations ranging from small town newspapers to research institutes and universities.
Freudenberger holds a bachelor’s degree from Colby College and a master’s in geoscience from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Originally from North Carolina, Freudenberger has lived in six states but has traveled through most all of them. After a long time living in the west, including Alaska, he is proud to return to Maine and call the Midcoast home.
When he isn't at his desk, he’s out fly fishing, riding a motorcycle, or making repairs to his 1900s farmhouse.
