Haunted History Tours ... for the holiday season
Join The Lady in the Red Cloak for a lantern lit walking tours of Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset and Damariscotta this month in celebration of All Hallows Eve/Halloween.
Discover the back streets and hidden stories of Boothbay Harbor, its mysteries and haunts. See the "most haunted" building in Maine, hear many ghostly tales including the Squire who walked on water, learn of early days of funereal practices, experience a one-of-a-kind evening in this quaint harbor town.
“These towns are filled with hauntings and the history that goes with them,” Sally “The Lady in the Red Cloak” Lobkowicz said. “Some of the hauntings are fairly well known, but most of them will be a surprise.”
Lobkowicz, an experienced genealogy researcher, began looking into local ghost stories after hearing tales from in-town residents and business people. “I discovered that there are quite a lot of buildings that people feel are haunted in each of these towns, and some of the stories are quite chilling,” she said. “There are also plenty of interesting historic tales to recall.”
In Boothbay Harbor, October tours are at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays; in Wiscasset on Mondays, in Damariscotta on Sundays, Wednesday, Oct. 11, Thursdays on the 5th, 19th and 26th.
Cemetery tours are by appointment in Wiscasset and Newcastle (and every Thursday in Bath).
The moderate walk, suitable for all ages, lasts approximately 90 minutes and is by reservation only. If you try to book tickets at the last minute and it says the tour for that night is full, call anyway – sometimes there are cancellations. 207-380-3806.
