The Howligans open new Chocolate Church music series
The Chocolate Church Arts Center (CCAC) launches the Kill The Chill Winter Concert Series with the rock and roll band, The Howligans on Jan. 8 This musical series will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the intimate venue in Annex (Curtis Room) of the Chocolate Church.
“As a community arts center, we are dedicated to showcasing local talent,” said CCAC Executive Director Jennifer DeChant, “This series reinforces the connection between the performer and the audience in a house party type of atmosphere.”
The Howligans are a four piece rock and roll band from the Midcoast composed of driving rhythms and bass, soulful guitars and heart-felt lyrics by songwriter Michael Abbott. Abbott's songs have been used by Nashville recording artists, and included in a major film score.
The series also includes The Colwell Brothers (blues) on Feb 6; Tim Rice with Chris LeVancher (jazz/folk fusion) on February 19; American folk of Hilton Park on March 5; musician Ted DeMille (bluegrass), March 12; and concludes March 19 with songstress Lauren Crosby & Golden Oak (folk).
According to DeChant, seating is limited in order to foster the musical connection. Some concerts will have a dance floor and cash bar for adult beverages.
