The gala opening of “Downton Abbey: A New Era” at Harbor Theater in Boothbay Harbor on Friday, May 20 was attended by 84 “Downton fans,” 48 or so in 1920s attire for the clothing contest.
Helen Meserve, member of the theater board, said she’d never seen so many flappers in Boothbay Harbor before!
Costume judge Marion Coleman awarded first place (four $10 tickets) to Abbie Shaw. Second place went to Doreen Dun (two $10 tickets); and third place went to a dapper trio, ironically enough (one $10 ticket).
Eventide Specialties provided the giggle water, er, champagne, and luscious hors d'oeuvres.
First National Bank has sponsored the run of this much anticipated film by “Downton Abbey” fans here in the Boothbay Region and beyond.
“Downton Abbey: A New Era” continues screening at Harbor Theater through June 2. For more information, visit https://boothbaycinema.org
