Join the Maine Workforce Development Compact
The Maine Workforce Development Compact is comprised of Maine businesses, associations, nonprofits, and municipalities who are committed to working together to solve Maine’s workforce challenges.
The Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce has access to $60 million in grant funding. With business partners, we are poised to serve 24,000 Mainers with short-term training by 2025. Compact Members have streamlined access to The Center’s services, which include:
- Financial support of up to $1,200 per frontline worker through December 2022. A $1,200 match is available in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
- Community college scholarships for staff to continue acquiring skills in pursuit of a degree or credential of value.
- An advisor to assist employees with course selection, textbooks, tutoring services, and other resources to ensure their continued success.
- Maintenance of your employees’ training records.
Training for Compact Members can occur at one of Maine’s community colleges, by a third-party training vendor, or through your own company-based training. All Maine companies qualify and there are additional resources available to small- and mid-sized companies.
To be eligible for training, frontline workers must be 18 or older, a Maine resident, and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
