Lincoln Home residents, staff share their art and creativity
Lincoln Home residents and staff celebrated each other’s creativity and stories this week during an Art Celebration in the living room. The gathering opened the door to stories ranging from past careers in the art field to current projects that have been created while at Lincoln Home. Media displayed ranged from watercolor, acrylic, pastels, colored pencil, needlepoint, quilting, knitting, collage, pen and ink, photography and sculpture. Two residents, Gina Rose Halpern and Sally Hough, are graduates of Rhode Island School of Design, and shared a sampling of art created in their careers, as well as current projects they are working on.
Katherine Colby, another resident, has had numerous pieces exhibited at the Farnsworth Museum, and exhibited a larger than life size sculpture of a “skirt” that she fashioned. Our new Director of Nursing Drucilla Day Beal displayed her colorful yarn creations, and shared some pieces from her grandfather, Jake Day’s, collection.
The show, organized by Kacie Gallant, director of Community Life, was a catalyst to learning more about the many talented people who live and work at Lincoln Home. It is a reminder how important it is to utilize our creative talents, no matter what the medium, and to share that inspiration with others.
