Local artists on display at Atlantic Motorcar
The change of seasons has ushered in two new artist’s works on the walls at Atlantic Motor Car on Route 1 in Wiscasset from now until December. We are pleased to introduce them here and invite the public to stop in during business hours and see their wonderful works. Featured artists until December include photographer Michele Barker and painter Elizabeth Palmer.
Barker started snapping images back in 2000 after receiving a Canon 35mm as a gift. That is when a new world of adventure opened up for her. In 2006 she earned a certificate of graduation in professional photography from the New York Institute of Photography. Her favorite subject to photograph is wildlife and many of her featured works at AMC reflect that.
A largely self-taught artist, Palmer’s medium of choice is watercolor. She paints mostly still life and landscapes. Her work is in private collections throughout the U.S. and she has won numerous awards for her art. She uses vibrant color, plays light against dark and utilizes intricate detail to portray her subject matter.
AMC offers art space for artists creating with watercolor, print, acrylic, mixed media and/or print mediums. No commission or hanging fee is charged; the space is donated as a service and enrichment to the local art community and the community at large. Please stop in during business hours and browse their wonderful works in the waiting room and halls. The shop hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
