Mary A. Latter
Mary Alice Latter, 52, of Boothbay died Dec. 16, 2016 at her home on Back River, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born July 1, 1964 in Boothbay Harbor to Nicholas and Marjorie (Lewis) Ranco. She grew up in Boothbay Harbor and graduated from Boothbay Region High School in the class of 1982. She also graduated from Mr. Bernard’s School of Hair Fashion in Lewiston in 1985.
She worked briefly for Heads of the Harbor. Later, she earned her CNA certification and worked as a home health worker for many years until the fall of 2015.
Mary enjoyed shopping, yard sales, and going on treasure hunts to find jewelry. Mary also enjoyed taking trips with her family to Myrtle Beach. She also traveled to Florida, Wyoming and Hawaii. In 2013, she, Mickey and Patricia stayed on Oahu for several weeks and enjoyed every day on the beach. Family was the most important part of her life. She loved her family camp in Alder Stream. She loved to go riding around listening to country music, spending time with her Shih Tzu, Sadie, and enjoyed many adventures with her grandchildren, Brayden and Monica.
Mary was a beautiful, supportive person who had a big heart and loved helping people. Her smile and laugh were contagious. She loved family gatherings, going to her children’s Little League and soccer games when they were young, and watching her grandchildren as they played. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and her dogs, Sadie and Chloe.
She was predeceased by her father, Nicholas Ranco.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mickey Latter of Boothbay; mother, Marjorie Davis of Trevett; daughter, Tawnya Cookson and significant other Travis Torres of Winthrop; son, Brandon Cookson and significant other Brooke Ciampa of Boothbay; sisters, Patricia Rego and her husband Brian of East Boothbay and Elizabeth Manson of Boothbay Harbor; brother, Peter Ranco and his wife Lori of Stratton; grandchildren, Brayden Swope of Winthrop and Monica Cookson of Boothbay; and many special nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Jean Latter; brother-in-law, Tracy Latter; and sister-in-law, Cathy Latter, all of Boothbay.
Visiting hours for Mary will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 21 from 5-7 p.m. at Hall’s of Boothbay, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay, Maine. A funeral service will be held at Hall’s of Boothbay on Thursday, Dec. 22 at 10 a.m., with Al Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Boothbay Harbor.
