Megan Lillie art works at Rising Tide
This month's Art at the Co-op exhibit features work by artist Megan Lillie. Join us Friday, Aug. 5 from 4-6 p.m. for our monthly celebration of art, community and good wine
Lillie is a painter and textile artist living in Newcastle. Her new body of work features hand-embroidered drawings on pieced linen and canvas. Inspired by a traditional
Japanese embroidery technique called Sashiko, the artist created this intimate series to explore her own relationship with the natural world and the practice of art as meditation. The works are like pages from a sketchbook: sometimes the exploration of a repetitive pattern, or the features of a whimsical character- but each is meticulously described in detail with needle and thread.

A lifelong artist, she has worked as a photorealist oil painter, prop and costume maker for film and TV, weaver, record store clerk,to librarian, toy designer, and most recently, apprentice boatbuilder. She is interested in process, the act of making, creative problem solving, learning new skills and mediums, and exploring the world in all ways visually.
