Castle Tucker is one of Maine’s most fascinating landmarks. Step back in time as you walk through a mansion filled with the Tuckers’ original furnishings and decoration. Built in 1807, the house was purchased in 1858 by Captain Richard Tucker Jr., scion of a prominent Wiscasset shipping family as a home for his new and growing family. Richard and Mollie updated and redecorated to reflect the styles of their time. Very little was changed in the house after 1900, including the unique kitchen with four generations of kitchen technology still in place where it was used. It remains one of the most complete and original Victorian homes in the United States. Castle Tucker is open Wednesday – Sunday until Oct. 15, with regular guided tours on the half hour from 11 a.m. to 4 pm.
