“Bridge of Spies”  Tom Hanks stars in Steven Speilberg's Cold War thriller written by Matt Charman and Ethan Coen and Joel Coen. The film is being held over for another week.

In 1957 the Soviet Union captures U.S. pilot Francis Gary Powers after shooting down his U-2 spy plane. Sentenced to 10 years in prison, Powers' only hope is New York lawyer James Donovan (Hanks), recruited by a CIA operative to negotiate his release.

Donovan travels to Berlin, hoping to win the young man's freedom through a prisoner exchange. If all goes well, the Russians would get Rudolf Abel (Mark Rylance), the convicted spy who Donovan defended in court.

Reviewing for Entertainment Weekly, Chris Nashawaty describes “Bridge of Spies” as “A crackling Cold War espionage thriller that thrums with suspense and fleet precision”.

“Bridge of Spies”, PG13, plays Wednesday, Nov. 11 through Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 15 at 2  and 7 p.m.

And, coming Wednesday, Dec. 2: The Vienna State Ballet’s “Nutcracker,” at 2 and 7 p.m. - the perfect prelude to the Harbor Lights Festival Saturday, Dec. 5 and the start of your holiday preparations and celebrations!
