The Natives Are Restless: A musical 'barn raising'
The Natives Are Restless is the musical collaboration of songwriters and musicians who gather to present their favorite tunes along with many original songs. On April 9 at 7:30 p.m. local luminaries the likes of The Liz Lannon Band, Tim Rice and Earl Bigelow, will take the Chocolate Church Arts Center stage.
The genesis of this special evening began over 10 years ago when everyone played and sang on each other’s work as a kind of community “musical barn raising.” The tradition continues this year with a roster that also includes Kathleen McGhee, The Leopard Girls, Stan Davis, Red Beans and Rice, and Cilantro (with Bigelow).
The idea for a Natives Are Restless concert was Earl Bigelow's back in 2005. It was based on the long held desire of performers to play the Chocolate Church. This concert has grown to become a much anticipated early spring, cabin fever reliever at the iconic venue.
Tickets, $12 advance and $15/door are available online at www.chocolatechurcharts.com or by calling 207-442-8455.
All proceeds benefit the Chocolate Church, located at 804 Washington Street in Bath.
