'Primary Mix' Stable Gallery in July
“Painting is an ever changing process. It’s about expressing and communicating beauty and the pleasure it brings to me and hopefully to others,” said Jennifer Litchfield.
Pamela Hansen evolves her subjects. This year she is focusing on abstract landscapes “building on the ebb and flow of patterns in nature.”
Add to the mix Priscilla McCandless who notices how light and shadows define objects and change colors. “It isn’t what you paint, but how you paint,” says Priscilla because “it’s an emotional connection that gives the painting its own logic”.
These three talented artists are among those featured in the “Primary Mix” show during July at the Stable Gallery, 26 Water Street in Damariscotta.
From wooden bowls to real and imagined landscapes to ceramic figures the size of your hand, the Stable Gallery artists have produced another delightful, “must see” show at the gallery.
Each month, the seven artist members of the Stable Gallery organize a new show starting on the second Friday until October. Eight artists using various media are featured in the main gallery this month, and all members’ work is on display in the former stalls of the once working stable.
Local Damariscotta residents Priscilla McCandless (oil and watercolor) and Stephen Vowles (wood) top the list of featured artists. All from Maine but farther away, are the remaining featured artists, including Polly Smith (watercolor), Pamela Hansen (acrylic), Jennifer Litchfield (acrylic), Laura Freeman (ceramics), and Steve Ryder (wood). Another 30-plus artists have their work included at the gallery as well.
Whether you are looking to enhance your garden, liven your walls and living spaces, or warm your body with handmade textiles, come to the Stable Gallery’s July art show! You won’t be disappointed!
