Register now for theater summer camps
Heartwood Theater Summer Camp is filling up, and registrations are open for students graduating grades 5-12. Students may choose from two camps: Shakespeare/Acting – 2 weeks (“Romeo and Juliet”) and Broadway Music – 3 weeks (“Madagascar, Jr.”) OR participate in both, with permission of the camp director.
Mastery of Shakespeare creates a solid foundation for ALL types of theater performance! Students will come to understand, speak and perform a cut version of Shakespeare’s timeless “Romeo and Juliet”. Camp disciplines include movement and circus arts, stage combat, language and performance prep. Camp runs from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., June 27 - July 9, with two evening performances July 8 and 9. Camp fee is $500.
Using “Aladdin, Jr.” as a vehicle for learning, the Broadway Camp focuses on three major aspects of performance: voice, dance/movement and acting. Disciplines include voice training, choreography and performance preparation, culminating in two evening performances, July 14 and 15. Camp runs from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m., June 27 through July 15. Camp fee is $750.
For students wishing to attend both sessions (requiring stamina and attention skills for a full day), permission of the Camp Director required. June 27 – July 15, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; fee is $900.
Students will work with a diverse and professional staff to include: Griff Braley, Heartwood’s Artistic Director and LA Drama Teacher; Emily Anderson, LA’s Choral Director; Liz Giles Brown, award winning physical educator and circus arts enthusiast; Michelle Bruckner, Broadway singer/dancer/actress/choreographer; Stephen Shore and Ray Huth, professional actors and certified stage combat instructors.
