Rehearsed, unrehearsed fun at WMHS winter carnival

A perennial favorite among students and staff happened Friday, Feb. 16 at Wiscasset Middle High School. The winter carnival capped a week of special attire days including a sports-themed one, technology coordinator and student council advisor Deb Pooler said.
Pooler emceed Friday’s ending assembly that included a pie-eating contest and class dance routines. The latter included tumbling and lifts, and attire from Dr. Seuss-themed tee shirts to Star Wars-like masks.
Among outside activities was snow-sculpting. The results greeted visitors at the building’s front. The carnival fell on students’ last day before February break. Pooler later reported the senior class won the carnival trophy and ran a victory lap around Stover Auditorium as “e are the champions” played over the sound system.
That was a highlight for Pooler. She said she and Cindy Carter have been the lead advisors for the class of 2018 since its freshman year. When the students graduate, she will miss them and their families, Pooler said. “This class has an amazing group of supportive and involved parents.”
