September First Friday in Boothbay Harbor
This month’s First Friday Art Tour in Boothbay Harbor was held Sept. 3.
Gallery owners, mostly artists, talked art with the people stopping by and most often it was about a particular piece or two they were curious about.
Around 5 p.m. at Boothbay Region Art Foundation, gallery manager June Rose said it had been rather quiet there for this month’s event. At Gleason Fine Art, Andrew Gleason was enjoying conversations about paintings with people stopping by – some who were enjoying a sip of wine or canned seltzer.
Studio 53 had a mix of visitors, artists and friends discussing this or that painting. George Bishop was back as barkeep. Wines, water and pre-packaged treats were at the bar. Gallery owners Terry Seaman and Heidi Seidelhuber’s new work from the spring show returned as the featured show hung in the two first floor rooms to the left.
Lynne and John Seitzer said they’d had quite a bit of foot traffic throughout the day, and in the evening one visitor bought one of John’s smaller paintings from his new “Cloud Series,” the featured art for the first fall First Friday. The Seitzers had their traditional offerings: a variety of chocolates, wrapped, of course, and some bubbly for art lovers stopping by.
The other galleries in First Friday mode were Gold/Smith Gallery, Ed’s Wharfside Gallery, Abacus, Black River Gallery, and Ae Ceramics.
The next, and final, First Friday of 2021 is Oct. 1. Be sure to stop by these galleries and treat yourself to some great art and interesting conversation with the artists who create it!
