Sheriff’s office gets grant
As regular as ornaments, cold weather and ugly sweaters, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received an annual grant in time for the holidays.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was again awarded the OUI Enforcement grant from the Bureau of Public Safety, which Sheriff Todd Brackett said has become a yearly award to the department.
The $10,000 grant will be used for operating under the influence prevention during the upcoming holiday season, Brackett said during the November 19 Lincoln County Commissioners meeting.
“This is something we've utilized for the last three or four years,” Brackett said. “(The grant) goes towards overtime for OUI enforcement.”
Brackett said the best deterrent would just be “flying the flag” and letting motorists know the Sheriff’s Office is out in force. The grant will offset some of the cost for having an increased presence during the holiday season.
