Sheriff’s report
Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On December 11, Deputy Todd Chilton was dispatched to a theft complaint in the Edgecomb area. The complainant stated that his camera and all of his accessories were taken from his residence the previous day. Further investigation to follow.
Recent Summonses
On December 10, Jeffrey S. Cusumano, 52, of Edgecomb was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle in violation of license restriction, glasses, on Route 1, Edgecomb, by Major Ken Mason.
On December 15, Justin T. Erskine, 32, of Boothbay was issued a summons for operating under the influence, on Wiscasset Road, Boothbay, by Sgt. Brendan Kane.
Recent Arrest
On December 13, Dustin E. Thiboutot, 35, of Boothbay Harbor was arrested for unlawful possession of scheduled drug and violating condition of release, on Bath Road, Wiscasset, by Det. Sgt. Ronald Rollins.
Recent Accidents
On December 10, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Daniel C. Caputo, 83, of Southport and Julie A. Taylor, 52, of Alna. Caputo was operating his 2012 Toyota Highlander southbound when he stated he missed his turn to Boothbay, so he pulled over to turn around. Caputo stated he stopped and looked both ways and did not see Taylor’s 2010 Toyota Corolla, which was operating southbound on Route 1, and pulled out in front of her vehicle. As a result, Taylor was unable to avoid Caputo’s vehicle and struck it broadside. Deputy Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On December 11, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Frank E. Perkins, 54, of Edgecomb and Katherine M. Schwehm, 45, of Boothbay. Schwehm, who was operating her 2002 Subaru Forester, stopped and was making a left turn into T & D Variety when Perkins came up behind Schwehm’s vehicle and did not see her stopped. Perkins attempted to pass in his 2009 Ford Fusion on the left side, however, came in contact with the side of Schwehm’s vehicle. Deputy Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On December 12, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Brittany L. Paul, 24, of Old Orchard Beach and Timothy S. Hodgdon, 58, of East Boothbay. Hodgdon was operating his 2012 Ford F250 on Boothbay Road and was slowing in traffic coming up the hill prior to the town office. Paul, due to the glare of the sun, did not see Hodgdon slowing and struck his vehicle in the rear with her 2007 Volkswagen Jetta, after which her vehicle left the roadway. Deputy Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On December 12, an accident occurred on River Road in Edgecomb involving Martin A. Getrich, 40, of Edgecomb. Getrich was operating his 2000 Jeep Wrangler southbound when he lost traction on the icy road and began to spin. His vehicle then rotated 180 degrees, left the roadway, overturned and then struck a tree. Deputy Aaron Beck was the investigating officer.
On December 15, an accident occurred on Hendricks Hill Road in Southport involving Dustin J. Labrie, 24, of Wiscasset. Labrie’s 2000 Volvo 40 was parked legally on the side of the roadway, facing northbound, when an unknown vehicle proceeding southbound crossed the center of the road and ran off the northbound shoulder and struck Labrie’s parked vehicle head on. The unknown vehicle and operator then left the scene. Reserve Deputy Mark Walsh was the investigating officer.
On December 15, an accident occurred on Eddy Road in Edgecomb involving Katherine L. Vickerson, 27, of Edgecomb. Vickerson was operating her 2007 Kia Rondo northbound in a private parking lot, down a slight grade in snowy/icy conditions, when she skidded on the snow/ice and struck a tree. Reserve Deputy Mark Walsh was the investigating officer.
On December 15, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Justin T. Erskine, 32, of White, Ga. Erskine was operating his 2000 Volvo V70 northbound when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow covered roadway, due to speed. As a result, his vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Sgt. Brendan Kane was the investigating officer.
On December 15, an accident occurred on Middle Road in Dresden involving Joshua D. Nimon, 32, of Pittston. Nimon was traveling southbound when a cow ran out of a field and into the side of his vehicle. Deputy Kenneth Hatch was the investigating officer.
