St. Cecilia Chamber Choir auditions through Sept. 14
If you are interested in learning challenging, beautiful music with a welcoming group of dedicated singers, come sing with us! St. Cecilia Chamber Choir auditions are now open for all voice parts, and we welcome youth members. The Choir will be preparing a program of sacred and secular Christmas and winter seasonal music for our annual Lessons and Carols concerts. Rehearsals begin Wed., Sept. 21, at St. Andrew’s Church in Newcastle. To schedule an audition, call director Linda Blanchard at (207) 380-2768 or email lindamaine@mac.com.
Singers wishing to audition should have good vocal control, and sopranos and altos should be able to sing without vibrato. Tenors and basses need not be able to sing with a straight tone. The ability to read music is preferred, but those who cannot read may participate by spending extra time learning the music at home with the aid of provided practice materials. We especially encourage gifted student singers to audition.
Rehearsals take place in Newcastle on Wednesday nights, 7 p.m., at St. Andrew’s Church. The Choir is directed by Linda Blanchard, M.A. Conducting, University of Michigan School of Music, Ann Arbor, and A.B. Bowdoin College, and accompanied by Sean Fleming, both of Damariscotta.
