Strawberry Festival still seeking crafters
St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, invites craftspeople to join with the likes of hand stenciled items, cat toys, or wood turned goods at its Strawberry Festival 70 on Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. As the Festival will be taking place primarily out-of-doors, crafters are offered the opportunity, for a fee of $25, to have a 10X10 space on the church grounds designated for their use. Craftspeople should plan on bringing their own canopies to shield against the elements as well as display materials and tables.
The main attraction, of course, is the time-honored strawberry shortcake assemblage: homemade biscuits, native berries, real whipped cream or locally made ice cream. As in years past, there will also be fresh-picked quarts of berries for sale. Let St. Philip’s people do the work for you; berries freshly picked that morning.
The popular Bargain Basement with hidden gems to discover, a book table, an antique table, a bake table, hot dog stand, and plant table will also be available for some shopping therapy. A children’s area with activities for the little ones will be open for their delight.
There will be a silent auction area, and the fun pie auction event at noon. St. Philip’s very own auctioneer, Suzanne Rankin, will once more entice bidders to “go high,” and remember, this is all to raise funds in support of St. Philip’s and its outreach programs.
Troubadour Matt O’Donnell will provide music to sooth people as they wander, eat shortcake, munch on hot dogs and purchase this or that treasure.
