Support Reny for Maine Senate
Dear Editor:
The political issues to which I've devoted much of both my personal and professional lives are the well being of all children and teens, healthcare - especially for women and seniors - and other seniors' issues such as the ability to age in place gracefully, with all the community supports that can help them do so. So it should come as no surprise that I enthusiastically support Cameron Reny for the Maine senate.
Cameron's entire professional life has been dedicated to kids, as an educator and school counselor in Lincoln County who has been devoted to her students and their families, including some of the most vulnerable populations. She has a deep understanding and appreciation for the resources and policies that will enable students to reach their full potential; she supports the full funding of K-12 education - while helping stop runaway property taxes - achieved by the Mills' administration.
She has said "Healthcare is a human right and medical debt should not devastate a person’s finances. All people should have the authority to make decisions about their own bodies and health.," and she has the endorsement of Emily's List. Reny is committed to helping healthcare frontline workers and celebrates Governor Mills' recent announcement of a fund to support unpaid family caregivers and the thousands of loved ones whose well being depends on their efforts.
Cameron also has a particular interest in helping expand affordable, safe housing in Lincoln County and throughout the state, including the prioritization of legislation to help fixed-income and low-income families afford utilities and make improvements to unsafe housing conditions.
Cameron Reny is exactly the sort of senator we need to preserve the momentum of the past four years, and I can't wait to vote for her.
