Dear Editor:

Evan Goodkowsky is the best choice for House District 47, which includes Alna, Jefferson, Whitefield and Wiscasset. He is energetic, forward thinking, and knows how to bring diverse voices together. I have worked this past year with Evan on Wiscasset’s broadband committee and have been impressed with both his technical knowledge and political understanding of what it will take to bring fiber optic broadband to our communities.

Evan has a full understanding of how such a system could be installed and the community process needed to get there. He is committed to making broadband available to everyone, including those who cannot afford it or don’t know how to use it.

Locally, Evan helped establish a three-town coalition between Dresden, Wiscasset, and Woolwich – that has successfully won planning grants so that each town can decide the best steps forward to take as a town. He recognized that, even if these three towns go their own way in building their broadband infrastructure, applying for the planning grants together achieved some economies of scale in attracting contractors to bid on a planning study.

If he can bring these towns together for this work, I am confident he can bring people together to pass legislation and on other issues that he will face in the legislature. Please join me in voting for Evan Goodkowsky on Nov. 8 or via absentee ballot.
