This week at the Lincoln Theater
Ever notice that usually the most successful children’s programming speaks just as well to adults? Sesame Street is a perfect example. This week you can find out why.
“The Truffle Hunters” - (PG-13; 1 hour, 24 minutes – In Italian with English subtitles) - Deep in the forests of Piedmont, Italy, a handful of men, seventy or eighty years young, hunt for the rare and expensive white Alba truffle—which to date has resisted all modern science’s efforts at cultivation. They’re guided by a secret culture and training passed down through generations, as well as by the noses of their cherished and expertly trained dogs. Final screenings at 2 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12 and Thursday, May 13.
“Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street” - (PG; 1 hour, 47 minutes) - With exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and over 20 original interviews, Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street introduces audiences to a gang of visionaries who set out to entertain and educate young minds by harnessing the power of television with furry characters, catchy songs, and a diverse cast. Street Gang is the compelling, comical, and inspiring story of a media masterpiece and pop-culture landmark. Television reporter and columnist Michael Davis-with the complete participation of Joan Ganz Cooney, one of the show's founders-unveils the idealistic personalities, decades of social and cultural change, stories of compassion and personal sacrifice, and miraculous efforts of writers, producers, directors, and puppeteers that together transformed an empty sound stage into the most recognizable block of real estate in television history.
Sesame Street is the longest-running-and arguably most beloved- children's television program ever created. Rated PG for some thematic elements, language and smoking. Playing at 2 and 7 p.m. Friday, May 14, Saturday, May 15, Wednesday, May 19; plays at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 16 and Thursday, May 20.
Coming soon - “Together Together” - May 21, “Limbo” - May 28
