Winter Physical Activity Challenge 2015: Exploring to Ecuador
Healthy Lincoln County, Let’s Go! Lincoln County and Lincoln Health, with the support of many local businesses, nonprofits and schools, will be sponsoring the annual Physical Challenge for the 12th consecutive year in 2015.
The challenge is a seven-week winter event, Jan. 12 through Feb. 27, in which participants are physically active at least 30 minutes, four times a week to reach the goal of “traveling” to an exotic location, double the activity and travel back to Maine. This year the challenge is titled “Exploring to Ecuador” and Mainely Moose and Redy from Let's Go! will be headed to Ecuador.
Exercise by yourself, or get a team together and exercise with friends, family, co-workers and neighbors. The winter months in Maine are long, so this program encourages individuals and teams in the community to get active and have fun this winter!
Many indoor locations will be made available for participants to walk safely for free, from Waldoboro to Wiscasset and lots of places in-between.
This year there will be an additional optional challenge in which participants will be asked to take the "Soda Free Challenge" encouraging participants to drink water instead of soda, both regular and diet. More information available at registration.
Registration forms are available and can be picked up at Lincoln County Healthcare offices at 66A Chapman Street in Damariscotta. The cost is $5 per person 18 years or older and $1 per person under 18. Whole classrooms can register for $15 per class.
Every participant will receive a full colored map to track your progress and depending on how far you travel you can also receive a silver or gold medal at the end of the challenge.
