Wiscasset Democrats hold potluck, business meeting
Braving the heat, the Wiscasset Democratic Committee sponsored a fun-filled evening July 22 outdoors at the Wiscasset Community Center. Attendees, seated at picnic tables, enjoyed a barbeque, good conversation, and campaign speeches, and then chose a new leadership team.
Elected unanimously as new officers were Chair, Jason Putnam; Vice Chair, Terry Heller; Secretary, Victoria Hugo-Vidal; and Treasurer, Anna Ridle. This group of committed Democrats replaces long-term organizers Tom Eichler and Wendy Ross.
A number of candidates spoke to the group, including Cameron Reny, the Democratic candidate for District 13 in the State Senate; Natasha Irving, seeking reelection as District Attorney for the Midcoast region, including Lincoln County; and Evan Goodkowsky, an Independent running to represent District 47 -- Wiscasset, Alna, Whitefield and Jefferson -- in the State House.
The speakers spoke of the importance of support for Democratic values in the upcoming elections, in our towns, the state, and the nation. Democrats and all like-minded folk were urged to get involved in any way they can – by helping drive candidates, making phone calls, and contributing financially.
