Waldoboro, Maine – Maine Families Knox, Lincoln and Sagadahoc earned a prestigious endorsement by Parents as Teachers™ national center as a Blue Ribbon Affiliate, making it one of the top performing early education and home visiting affiliates within the international Parents as Teachers network.

Being named a Blue Ribbon Affiliate affirms that Maine Families Knox, Lincoln and Sagadahoc is a high-quality member of the home visitation and parent education field, implementing the evidence-based Parents as Teachers model with fidelity. Families in Knox, Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties are positively impacted by the services delivered by this program, which include home visits, group connections, child screening and connections to community resources, equipping parents with knowledge and resources to prepare their children for a strong start in life and success in school.

To earn this recognition, over the past year staff at Maine Families completed the intensive Quality Endorsement and Improvement process through the Parents as Teachers national center. The official designation was made on October 1, 2017.

Maine Families Knox, Lincoln and Sagadahoc is a program of the non-profit agency, the Parent Program of Mid-Coast Maine, Inc. With federal funding from the Maternal Infant Early Childhood Home Visiting Program (MIECHV), as well as critical state and local funding, seven highly trained professionals provide free home visits to any family who is pregnant or has a newborn at home. Visits include researched based information about parenting topics such as sleep and nutrition, activities parents can do to promote their baby’s development as well as connection to community resources.
