Student’s drawing sells
Wiscasset Elementary School fifth grade student Tucker Davenport and his parents agreed to sell a still-life drawing he created in art class earlier this year. The drawing was on display at the Maine Art Gallery’s Student Art Exhibit in May.
Elaine Pew was one of the exhibit organizers. She especially appreciates abstract works of art and recognized the strength of Tucker’s image. She met with Tucker, his mom Heather and art teacher Donna Barnes at the end of the day Wednesday, June 6 to receive the drawing and share her insights and appreciation with Tucker.
To have one’s artwork appreciated to the degree that someone wants to purchase it and hang it in their home, to be enjoyed daily, is a huge compliment to the artist. It goes a long way to encourage continued creative exploration and skill development.
